The Disappearing/Reappearing File Server E-mail
To be reachable, a Mac acting as a file server must be turned on and not in sleep mode. In sleep mode, your Mac responds to a key press or mouse click, but network access doesn't automatically wake the machine. If your file server seems to disappear and reappear mysteriously on its own, check its sleep options (in the Energy Saver preference pane, display the sleep view, and make sure that Never is specified for the setting "Put the computer to sleep when it is inactive for").

“Tim is a great guy to work with and I have not met a more knowledgeable person in the Apple/Mac field in my 8 years in the I.T. industry. He's always very pleasant and has a great attitude which has transcended our business relationship into a good friendship. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for an experienced, professional consultant for all Mac products and solutions.”
