| The Disappearing/Reappearing File Server |
To be reachable, a Mac acting as a file server must be turned on and not in sleep mode. In sleep mode, your Mac responds to a key press or mouse click, but network access doesn't automatically wake the machine. If your file server seems to disappear and reappear mysteriously on its own, check its sleep options (in the Energy Saver preference pane, display the sleep view, and make sure that Never is specified for the setting "Put the computer to sleep when it is inactive for").

"Thanks for your help yesterday, working out all my nasty Suitcase problems. Everything is working perfectly now, believe it or not! All the fonts are opening and Suitcase is working perfectly! I even slept better last night… no computer dreams."
