| Windows Shortcuts and Mac Aliases |

Unlike the Mac, Windows stores installed programs in separate system folders, and puts pointer icons called shortcuts in easy-to-access locations. Note that if you delete one of these shortcuts (recognizable by the curved arrow in the lower-left corner), you won't delete the program itself—just the shortcut. In that way, Windows shortcuts are similar to aliases on the Mac.
