
| Restoring with Third-Party Archiving Software |

If you use a program other than Time Machine to create archives, the other program may be able to restore your entire disk. However, other backup tools tend to have trouble with this task, so it's safer to go straight to restoring your bootable duplicate. Afterward, if you need more-recent copies of some of your files, you can retrieve them from your archive manually.
