| Printing Problems? Try a Quick Fix |
|
|
A quick fix is a repair action that can be performed quickly, involves little or no risk of harm to the system, and has little or no cost. An experienced, efficient troubleshooter will try one or more quick fixes before taking on the more time-consuming tasks involved with isolating a technical issue. (The term "quick fix" does not imply a temporary, substandard, or sloppy repair.) Suppose you're attempting to print a spreadsheet in landscape mode to an inkjet printer, and the Mac stops responding halfway through the first page. Before taking more elaborate steps to try to determine the problem, try these quick fixes: 1) Turn the printer off and back on again, and then retry the print job. 2) Restart the system and try again. 3) Disconnect and securely reconnect the printer cable (be careful to follow safety precautions). 4) Take the paper out of the paper cassette and reinsert it to be sure that it's inserted properly.
