Say No to Spam, Tip 4

Don't give personal information in an e-mail or instant message. It could be a trick. Most legitimate companies won't ask for personal information by e-mail. If a company you trust, such as your Credit Card Company or bank, appears to ask for personal information, check into it further. Call the company using a number you retrieve yourself from the back of your credit card, a bill, phone book, etc. not a number from the e-mail message. If it's a legitimate request, the company's customer service department should be able to help you.

Safari...Merge Windows

Safari, version 3,  has a great new feature which allows you to drag and drop tabs. You can drag a tab off the bar to create a new window or drag it onto an existing window to add it. You can also use this to rearrange the order of your tabs. If you have lots of open windows each with different numbers of tabs, there is an easier way to get them all into one instead of dragging and dropping. In the Window menu you will find the "Merge All Windows" command. This will instantly combine all your open windows into one tabbed window.

Terminal Tricks

Terminal rm command
Have you ever had a really stubborn item in your trash that just won't go away? Here are two tips that just might help.

1) Hold down the option button while deleting the trash, this tells Mac OS to delete all the Locked items as well as the rest of the trash.

2) If you have some really really stubborn trash you might need to go to the Terminal application and try this command. Just a warring here, the terminal is a powerful tool, you can cause some serious permanent damage here if your not careful...with that said lets give it a try.

Open the Terminal and type this command...
sudo rm -rf

Then drag and drop the items from the trash on to the cursor in the terminal.
Hit return and enter your admin password when prompted
Wha-La! there gone...

If you want to understand more about this command try typing this command in the terminal
man rm

The Terminal is a powerful tool.
